Apple Unveils the iPhone 14: Here's What's New
Apple just unveiled the iPhone 14, its newest smartphone and the follow-up to last year’s iPhone 13. In what seems to be an effort to keep consumers from getting confused over the fact that it skipped from the iPhone 13 to the iPhone 14, Apple also introduced some new design elements and software tweaks to differentiate this new device from previous versions of the iPhone. Here’s what’s new in Apple’s new device.
A new dark color option
The iPhone 14 has a new dark color option that is perfect for those who want to be different from the crowd, or for those who just want to save their eyes from an overload of white. The dark gray color is sleek and sophisticated, and it will surely be a favorite among Apple fans. The design also comes with a matte finish that looks like glass. It's water-resistant so it can withstand up to 30 minutes in water; its camera is 8 megapixels; and its battery life lasts up to 11 hours on 3G service.
More storage options
The new iPhone will have a starting price of $1000, and it will be available in two different storage options. The first option is 256GB, which retails for $1500 and the second option is 512GB, which is retailing at $2000. This represents a huge increase from last year, where they offered just 64GB at an initial cost of $650. The camera has been improved as well. The new phone has three lenses on its backside with a 50MP lens, which can capture much higher quality photos than any previous iPhones. One of these lenses also has a telephoto lens to take even better photos with zoom capabilities up to 10x more than before. There are also six sensors that allow for excellent low-light shooting conditions that no other phones have been able to offer so far.
Battery life improvements
The main difference, however, is that the new iPhone has a longer battery life. In fact, Apple says it lasts two hours longer than last year's model. This could be an attractive feature for users who have been looking to switch over to iOS but were deterred by battery concerns. This means that even with its beefier design and larger screen size, the iPhone 14 can still offer comparable battery life to its predecessor.
Memory improvements
The new model will be equipped with a new type of memory that is similar to a solid state hard drive. The memory has no moving parts, which means it should be more reliable and less likely to break. The other big change is a bigger screen. The screen size will be 6 inches on the diagonal, up from 5 inches. The phone will also have a sharper resolution, meaning you'll get better images when watching videos or playing games. There are also many little changes such as the removal of headphone jack in favour of wireless headphones (sold separately). Other new features include an enhanced battery life thanks to improved processor speeds and increased storage capacity.
The final thing worth mentioning about this newest version is what Apple didn't change- its price! Unlike some companies who charge outrageous prices for upgrades, Apple continues to offer their latest product at only $999US for its 64 GB model- quite reasonable if you ask me!
Camera improvements
The iphone14 features an improved camera system with a 16mp lens and aperture of f/1.8. With these changes, the iphone14 has seen significant improvements in low light performance, shutter speed, and noise reduction. Photos taken with the iphone14 will also be sharper and have better color reproduction than previous models thanks to a new custom-built ISP that includes an advanced smart pixel technology. Plus, there is finally optical image stabilization (OIS) which should make those bumpy rides much smoother. Apple also took this opportunity to boast about how the iphone14 will produce better quality video in lower lighting conditions.
Face ID more secure
The iPhone 14 features a new Face ID camera that can identify your face in 3D. It uses this data to create a mathematical model of your facial features and then scans it against other images to identify you. This means that even if someone else has an image of your face, they can't use it to unlock your phone. The technology is said to be more accurate than fingerprint recognition, but less secure than passwords or TouchID. Apple says that while there is a one-in-a-million chance of somebody unlocking your phone with their own fingerprint, there is only one-in-ten-thousand chance with Face ID.
Faster Charging Time
The biggest new feature of the iPhone 14 is its ability to charge faster. The phone will be able to recharge up to 50% in 30 minutes and can be fully charged in less than an hour. This is a huge improvement for those on-the-go who don't want to spend all day waiting for their battery to charge before they head out again. Apple also claims that this new version of the iPhone has improved battery life, meaning that even if it takes longer to charge, it won't have a shorter runtime.
The price has been lowered from $1,200 USD down to $999 USD for the cheapest model. So if you've been thinking about getting one but weren't sure about paying so much upfront, now is your chance! Apple also promises that this isn’t going to just be another overpriced gadget; instead, it’s going to be worth every penny spent on it because of all the improvements made over previous models.
